Day 19: Possible Fingerprint Evidence Tampering and Degrading, Reliability Questioned at Michael Jackson Trial

Day 19 was dominated by testimony regarding the fingerprint analysis in the Michael Jackson trial. Jurors heard Thursday that authorities did not do fingerprint analysis on adult magazines from the singer's home until many, many months after they were seized. Defense Attorney Robert Sanger used cross-examination of the prosecution's forensic experts to try to undermine the reliability of fingerprint evidence that is expected to be shown to the jury, suggesting it could degrade over time.

A key witness in the Michael Jackson molestation case is expected in court this week, but not in California. 25-year-old Chris Carter has his own problems right here in Las Vegas, charged with numerous counts of robbery. Metro Police officers had been on Carter's trail for two years. That's when he left his job at Neverland Ranch and allegedly began committing felonies here in Las Vegas. Today, he's being held at the county jail, a far cry from the posh surroundings he once knew.

Yesterday was a slow day in court as far as reporting goes. Jurors listened to expert testimony on forensics, as well as testimony from Lisa Hemman, a technician. Hemman testified she found the Accuser's brother Star Arvizo's fingerprints on adult material seized from Neverland.

Day 18 of Michael Jackson’s trial dealt a serious blow to the prosecution’s floundering case when Judge Melville made the decision that adult material from Internet sites found on the computers in Michael Jackson’s home, which could have been used by any number of people, employees and guests, would not be permitted to be used as evidence.

Day 17: Comedian Says Family Would "Latch on to anyone who would help them"

Day 17, which Judge Rodney Melville announced would only be a half day, featured the testimony of a comedian who gave $20,000 to the family of the boy now accusing Michael Jackson of molestation. She testified Tuesday that she received a tearful phone call from the boy's mother that led her to believe the family was being held against its will.
Comedian Louise Palanker Takes the Stand at Michael Jackson Trial

After taking the stand late on in Monday's proceedings, comedian Louise Palanker testified yesterday about her relationship with the Arvizo family. Palanker met the Arvizo's through a comedy camp in 2000, according to the Santa Maria Times. She also took part in fundraisers for Gavin Arvizo during his cancer and provided two $10,000 cheques for each of his parents.

On Day 16 Michael Jackson arrived at court to begin another week of his trial, two minutes after eight-thirty in the morning and clearly in excruciating pain. A doctor, dressed in his scrubs directly from the hospital, accompanied him into the courtroom. The judge delayed court for 45 minutes to confer with the attorneys and then began the day’s proceedings without additional explanation.
